2019 Hyundai Sonata Trim Levels - Detroit MI

2019 Hyundai Sonata Trim Levels

The 2019 Hyundai Sonata is one of the seven-gen iterations of the midsize four-door sedan nameplate from Hyundai Motors. By now, the vehicle has blossomed into one of the top vehicles in its segment due to its large trunk, supportive and roomy seats, and a user-friendly infotainment system. Two years ago, the Sonata was refreshed in the guise of a midsize facelift; consequently, the 2019 edition has no major changes. The 2019 Sonata is split into four trim levels: SE, SEL, Sport, and Limited.

Detroit MI - 2019 Hyundai Sonata SE

Hyundai Sonata SE

The SE is the base-level variant of the 2019 Hyundai Sonata. It is powered by a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which produces 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. The engine is hitched to a 6-speed automatic transmission. As a five-seater, the Sonata supplies a passenger volume of 106.1 cubic feet and a cargo volume of 16.3 cubic feet from the trunk. The rear seats can be folded down to expand the cargo space into the cabin.

Premium cloth upholstery, remote keyless entry, Bluetooth wireless connectivity for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, a six-speaker audio system, an AM/FM radio tuner, MP3 playback ability, smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack for connecting and playing media from mobile devices, and a 7-inch color touchscreen are some of the standard comfort and convenience features on the 2019 Sonata SE. For safety, the SE provides seven airbags (two front impact airbags, a driver's knee airbag, two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and two roof-mounted side curtain airbags), a rearview camera, electronic vehicle stability assist, traction control, daytime running lamps, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist. Security is provided by the combination of the remote keyless entry with a panic alarm to create a theft-deterrent system.

On the SEL trim, the steering wheel is leather-wrapped and heated. The front seats also get heating capability, and the driver's seat is boosted with power adjustability and power lumbar support. Comfort and convenience enhancements and additions that you get if you go with the SEL include dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity key entry (which improves remote keyless entry by granting access with just having the key fob on you), push-button engine start (instead of an ignition system that requires an actual key), a 4.2-inch color trip computer, wireless device charging, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio service, and a USB port for charging mobile devices.

Detroit MI - 2019 Hyundai Sonata Limited

You will also get three years of two Blue Link telematics suites: Connected Care, which provides services such as automatic collision notification, enhanced roadside assistance, SOS emergency assistance, and vehicle health reporting; and Remote, which is characterized by functions such as remote start, stolen vehicle recovery, remote door lock/unlock, and alarm notification. Regarding safety, the halogen bulbs of the daytime running lights-which improve the conspicuity of your vehicle to prevent possible accidents with pedestrians or other motorists-are replaced by longer-lasting and brighter LEDs.

Hyundai Sonata Sport

At the Sport trim level, Hyundai adds a power tilt-and-slide sunroof. True to its racing-style orientation, the Sport is the only trim with racing-style chrome rocker panels, leather-bolstered sports-style seats, and a chrome-tipped dual exhaust.

Hyundai Sonata Limited

At the Limited trim level, Hyundai offers you the opportunity to go with a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter I4, rather than being limited to the 2.4-liter I4. (Consequently, the 2.0-liter-powered Sonata is referred to as "Limited 2.0T" due to the engine's size and turbocharger.) The turbo 2.0-liter I4 pumps out 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque; that's 60 more horsepower and 82 more lb-ft of torque. In addition, the turbocharged engine is hitched to an 8-speed automatic transmission, rather than the 6-speed one. Added on the Limited's engine, regardless of type, is auto stop-start capability, which means that the engine automatically stops when the vehicle comes to a complete stop and automatically restarts when you ease off the brake pedal; this improves fuel efficiency as a result. With the Limited, you get leather upholstery, an integrated memory system for the driver's seat, power adjustability on the front passenger seat, front-seat ventilation, smart cruise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a garage-door opener. The Limited 2.0T joins the Sport in getting leather-bolstered sports-style seats, it replaces the tilt-and-slide sunroof with a panoramic one, and it is the only trim with 10-speaker 400-watt audio, a 8-inch touchscreen navigation, and a third three-year Blue Link subscription: Guidance, which provides Google-powered destination search and send-to-car ability. Safety upgrades include lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, dynamic bending light technology on the headlights for more accurate illumination, automatic high beam assist, and rear parking sensors (exclusive to the 2.0T).
